How time flies – Amy’s son Corban is almost 6 months old!

We thought that his phenomenal progress was sufficient cause to celebrate with another contest. Many of you enjoyed the contest we had in April to guess Corban’s homecoming date from the hospital, so we hope you’ll have fun with this one too!

Here’s how this contest will work…

Corban will have his 6 month doctor’s check-up during the last couple days of September. To enter this contest, just add a comment to this blog post. Guess what Corban’s weight will be (in pounds and ounces) when he has his check-up at the end of the month.

Make your guess as soon as possible, because the entry closest to Corban’s exact weight with the earliest timestamp will win $50 off the winner’s next order at AmyAdele.com. Even if someone else already beat you to the punch with their guess, don’t hesitate to still enter though. Every subsequent person who also guesses the right weight will get 40% off their next order.

Only one guess per person, please. Additional guesses will be disqualified. All entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on Friday, September 25th, 2009. Corban’s actual weight and the winners to this contest will be announced in an E-mail Newsletter on Friday, October 2nd. The prizes awarded will be in the form of a unique promotion code that you can use at checkout.

For those of you firing up your grill this weekend for the Fourth of July, I have the ultimate burger recipe!

As a new bride, I was concerned that my husband would have to go through our first year with burnt meals.  I knew I could follow a recipe because I have had some success with baking, but cooking made me a little nervous. I started going through the many recipes books I’ve collected over the years, looking for anything that would be easy and tasty. I even got my husband, Charlie, in on the fun of exploring the new world of cook books.

That’s how we found the cola burger recipe. Using unconventional burger ingredients such as French dressing and Cola, this recipe is surely one to file away for continuous use. These burgers are so good you don’t even need condiments! My husband has fallen in love with these always-moist burgers and I’m sure your family will as well.

Here’s a few helpful tips I’ve found in working with this recipe:
• I prefer to use bread crumbs instead of saltines
• I normally use half the basting mixture and still have plenty left over.
• I’ve even tried Dr. Pepper and still love the result, so any cola you have on hand will work, just not Diet Cola.
• For just the two of us, I use 1 lb. of meat and make them extra thick. This way I have plenty left over for lunch the next day.

Now that baby Corban is doing so well (and sleeping more at night), Amy has been very busy! As we still work to add her designs to T-shirts and other items to match what’s currently online, she is creating NEW DESIGNS!

Some truly adorable new designs were added to our collection just this week. Two of these designs just waiting to be personalized include:

Fishing Boy Stationery

This stationery was created recently in response to a customer’s design suggestion in another blog post.  This little Fishing Boy sits on the edge of a pier waiting for his first catch of the day (or for someone to personalize his folded note card). Keep summer memories alive with this sweet stationery!

Two Sisters Stationery

This design was mainly inspired by Amy’s two cuties, Emily and Grace, and a little bit by Amy and her sister in childhood days. I like to imagine that these adorable two sisters are taking a break from messing up the house playing to stop, hold hands, and smile at Mommy.

T-shirts, T-shirts, and more T-shirts!

You would be hard pressed to NOT be able to find your favorite design on any of our T-shirts now! Over the past two weeks we have steadily added more and more of Amy’s designs on our Girls, Boys, and Baby T-shirts, over 200 new shirts in all. More selections & more possibilities!

It was only 11 a.m. here at the Amy Adele office and I had already had a DAY OF IT. I know it sounds hard to believe, but I very rarely have a bad day at work. Surrounded by adorable drawings and happy thoughts on paper, it’s really hard to truly have a bad day.  But I thought I would share my experience with you so you can laugh (or cry) along with me.

As anyone on our staff can tell you, I am in desperate need of my coffee the second I step foot in the door. I arrived this morning, set my things down, and immediately started brewing a fresh pot. Typical morning, nothing odd about that, right? I will revisit this issue further in the post.

So I walked on in to settle into my desk and was greeted by a strange beeping noise–beep, beep, beep–over and over. What is that?? After seeing that my computer was not turned on, I followed the sound to my battery backup surge protector. Not only had my computer shut down overnight (just mine), the surge protector was clicking on and off and the battery backup was dead. Solution:  purchase a new battery backup, replug everything back in and power up. Easy, right? No. My computer still would not power on.

Back to my beloved coffee… While on the phone with one of our customers, Michele and Hannah came in giggling holding up a camera with a preview of a photo they just shot. My jaw dropped as I saw on the screen a mess that I just did not need after the morning I’d had so far. The coffee that was supposed to be in my favorite flower mug was instead all over the counter, down the front of the cabinet doors and onto the floor. I was horrified but composed myself and finished my customer service call without incident–I am a professional afterall. Being the sport that she is, Michele helped me clean it all. (Though I suspect her ulterior motive was to get it cleaned up and get a fresh pot brewed for the beast as quickly as possible. ) I am now enjoying a delicious cup of caffeine French roast so all is well on that front. Success!

Oh yes, the computer. After Joe (our president and Amy’s husband) purchased a new power supply and installed it in the computer, I was back up and running by 1 pm.  Success!

So things are definitely better now, but BOY what a morning here at Amy Adele!!!! Hearing some happy thoughts from our customers would really make it ALL better. Drop me a comment!

Hello everyone! I thought I should get my head out of mommy-world for a moment and write my first blog post. Though I’m not sure I can write about anything other than my mommy-world right now.

But first let me give a big shout out and say “Thanks!” to all those who wrote in with their thoughts and prayers for me and my family. I was overwhelmed by all the comments posted… thank you so very much. We felt every one of your prayers and I know Corban has been doing so well because of them all.

Corban has been home for 1 1/2 months now and is growing like a weed. He is over 7 lbs and is gaining weight at a faster than average rate.  The doctor said “Whoa!” when he saw how much Corban had gained in just one week. He is acting like a typical newborn would… sleep, eat, poop, and more sleep. And grunting. Why do newborns grunt so much? It is so funny to listen to… unless it’s 2 am. Then it’s not quite as funny.

Corban isn’t the only child who surprises me. My 10 year old daughter, Emily loves the bulletin board design, and we printed up some stationery for her.  When I got home from the hospital she wrote this amazing note to me (she’s quite expressive in her writings) and I set it on my dresser.

As I’ve been walking past it every day I noticed the little orange butterfly in the design. The little bug turned out pretty good so I’ve been thinking about making it into it’s own design. I’ve created two different layouts and I can’t decide which one I like best.

So I was wondering if you all could take a look and let me know which you like best!  Check them out below. Both my girls like the polka dots version best… what do you think?
