corbubb500 Update from Amy

Corban in Bubbles!

Hello everyone! I thought I should get my head out of mommy-world for a moment and write my first blog post. Though I’m not sure I can write about anything other than my mommy-world right now.

But first let me give a big shout out and say “Thanks!” to all those who wrote in with their thoughts and prayers for me and my family. I was overwhelmed by all the comments posted… thank you so very much. We felt every one of your prayers and I know Corban has been doing so well because of them all.

Corban has been home for 1 1/2 months now and is growing like a weed. He is over 7 lbs and is gaining weight at a faster than average rate. The doctor said “Whoa!” when he saw how much Corban had gained in just one week. He is acting like a typical newborn would… sleep, eat, poop, and more sleep. And grunting. Why do newborns grunt so much? It is so funny to listen to… unless it’s 2 am. Then it’s not quite as funny.

Corban isn’t the only child who surprises me. My 10 year old daughter, Emily loves the bulletin board design, and we printed up some stationery for her. When I got home from the hospital she wrote this amazing note to me (she’s quite expressive in her writings) and I set it on my dresser.

As I’ve been walking past it every day I noticed the little orange butterfly in the design. The little bug turned out pretty good so I’ve been thinking about making it into it’s own design. I’ve created two different layouts and I can’t decide which one I like best.

So I was wondering if you all could take a look and let me know which you like best! Check them out below. Both my girls like the polka dots version best… what do you think?

I’m so glad that things are going well, Amy! I need to come by & meet Corban in person. That “bubbles picture” made me smile… he is SO cute! As far as the design… I like the one with polka dots, too. It’s really fun & different!! Have a blessed day!

Great to hear how things are progressing so well! Keep up the hard work! Newborns are never easy!!

Definitely go with the polka dots–more fun and funky!!

Corban is adorable! Oh, how I remember those days. Now my boys are 26 (MA in Linguistics) and 19 (Joined Marine Corps). Amy, I just loved the cards I ordered from you with the firetruck on the front. I used them as an announcement (and party invitation) for my brother’s retirement from the fire department. By the way, your website is beautiful… I think you should make both butterfly cards available.

First let me say CONGRATULATIONS on little Corban! He is just precious! I am expecting my first baby (Parker David) any day now! I got my personalized baby shower “thank you” note cards from you and have sent them all off, so need to get another supply! I got the sweet giraffe design and everyone loved them!
As far as the butterfly design goes, I am with your daughters, I love the polka dots and know my 2 nieces, ages 11 and 9 would love them too! Take care! Katie

Love the one with the polka-dots too!!!

  6. Susan Saunders June 12, 2009 at 10:59 am #

Congratulations. I had a daughter on February 18th and just returned to “real” work. I thoroughly enjoy “mommy world” and “work world” and have a great family support system. So glad your family is doing well…don’t miss a thing. My son is already three and I am an older parent so time passes much quicker than I would like.

Now to the design–polka dots are always great!

I love the polkadots myself! Corbin is so precious. I’m so glad he is doing so well. Count your blessings everyday!

Love the polka dots! My daughter Kenzie is 3 and son Mason is 13 weeks.
Kenzie absolutely loves polka dots and pink. What little girl doesn’t? My vote is for that one. Your little boy is so cute. He seems to love the bath. My little Mason does too!
    Have a great day!

LOVED the picture of Corban! Preemies have such a special place in my heart- he looks fantastic!!!

    Polka dot vote here!

I’m glad to hear that things are going well.

I like the design w/o polka dots better, but from a kid’s perspective, I’m sure polka dots would be best.

Corban is so cute and I am glad to hear he is doing so well and growing so fast. I have a 7 week old who also grunts! It is funny unless it is 2 am, oh well, that is why God made babies so cute!

The cards are both so cute, I like them both, but having to choose, I would go with the polka-dots.

Glad to hear and see Corbin is thriving!! My identical twin daughters were a month early and spent some time in the nicu… (They are approaching their first birthday in two weeks!!!!) What has always amazed me is the power of prayer!!!

In terms of designs… I love the butterfly with the polka dots – more eye catching!!

  15. sarah June 12, 2009 at 1:58 pm #

    Congratulations on you new addition.

I love the polka dot one the best.

Hi Amy-It is so great that Corban is doing well! He is a cutie! I’ve been very interested in your story as we were told we would likely have a preemie around the time I discovered your website and your blog. Now, our son is just over 2 weeks old and in the NICU and will be there a few more weeks. It is encouraging to see how well Corban is doing. Thanks for sharing your story.

I think both designs are very cute but am always partial to polka dots! :)

  22. Leslie June 13, 2009 at 2:02 am #

    Congratulations! Hes so precious.

I like the card without the polka dots because your simple style is what makes your cards unique. The butterfly on its own makes the image stand out more.

  23. Sharon Ehrlich June 13, 2009 at 9:49 am #

I like the polka dot one too! Glad your baby is doing much better. He looks so cute in the tub!

  24. Suzanne June 14, 2009 at 8:37 pm #

Amy, I’m so excited to hear how well Corban is doing. I knew he would get through this and start gaining the weight immediately. Way to go Corban!!!

    I love the Polka Dots!!
