2011 Shark Week is almost upon us, so start planning now if you haven't already! Shark Week begins July 31. Did you know Shark Week began way back in 1987? According to Wikipedia, Shark Week is now considered the longest-running program event on cable. Last year, over 30 million viewers tuned into Discovery Channel's Shark Week, making 2010 a record-breaker. This year, Andy Samberg from Saturday Night Live will be hosting. The Shark Week website is a treasure chest of shark information, including these shark facts:*Did you know you're more likely to get bitten by another person than a shark?
*Did you know a whale shark can give birth to 300 shark pups in one litter?
*Did you know the moon directly affects sharks' eating habits and their proximity to shore?
*Did you know there are more than 400 shark species? Many of them are little-known creatures that dwell at the bottom of the ocean, including the bizarre frilled shark, the spooky goblin shark and the mysterious Greenland shark.
